I have lived in the beautiful and friendly Gila Valley, at the foot of the beautiful Mount Graham near Safford, AZ, since April, 1994. I grew up in Oregon and, right here in the middle of the Arizona desert, I found a true "Oregon mountain" with cool breezes, cold mountain streams, and trees galore! I took the above photo of Mount Graham in February, 1995, from my front porch. We do get a bit of snow in the winter, and we are not usually as hot as Phoenix in the summer. The nice part of summer here is that it cools down a lot at night, unlike the big cities.
